Net rent

The word 'cold rent' is used to describe the basic rent component, in contrast to the 'warm rent' (including running costs).

Neighbourhood law

Neighbourhood law is not a separate field of law. The German Civil Code (BGB), in particular the law of property from §§ 903 ff BGB, contains regulations which subject the ownership of the property to restrictions in relation of the neighbour. Thus, the owner of the property cannot take arbitrary measures on his property that affect the rights of third parties (e.g. neighbours).

Night storage heater

Night storage heater, or also called low-tariff storage heater, is an electrically operated heating system in which the heat storage tank is heated up with energy offered by the electricity supplier at a lower price during off-peak periods. The difference to storage heating is the lower price of electricity.

Notary

A notary is a public person appointed by the judiciary who is authorized for public notarization and authentication. In the case of a real estate purchase agreement, he or she certifies the signature in the presence of all parties involved, which is recorded the declaration of intent, see § 311b BGB.
